1. How do I get a library card? / ¿Como puedo obtener una tarjeta de la biblioteca?

NOTE: Online registration is not available. If you live in Kendall County, you may get a library card(PDF) free of charge. If you live outside of Kendall County, you have a couple of options. You can pay a $20 annual fee for the entire household, or you can go to the library in your district and ask for a TexShare card. Adult caregivers must be present for minors under the age of 17 to receive a card. Registrants must be able to provide proof of residence. 2. Does the library have public computers?

The library offers the use of public computers to anyone who visits. No library card is required to use the computers. If you have your own laptop or mobile device you can use the library's free wireless access. For patrons under the age of 17 the library offers computers that have been filtered. We provide b/w and color printing, with a charge per page. You can print either from the library's computers or you can print wirelessly from your mobile device.

3. Who is Patrick Heath and why is the library named after him?

Patrick Heath served as Boerne mayor from 1987-2007. During this time, Patrick oversaw the move of the Boerne Public Library from the old police station to the Dienger Building. He has served in a number of positions within the statewide library community, including as the President of the Texas Library Association from 2009-2010. Because of his dedication to his community and his advocacy for libraries, the town honored him by naming the library after him.

4. How can I order an item through Interlibrary Loan?

5. Does the library have a Notary Public?

Yes! The library has three Notary Publics on the staff. There is usually at least one available to assist you, but it might be more convenient for you to call and make an appointment. We charge $6.00 per session.

6. How do I book a study room?

We have 5 study rooms that can be booked up to one week in advance for two hours a day per study group. Find out how to book any of our spaces. Learn more about study room usage and policies.

7. Can I pay my library fines online?

Not at this time; however, we're always happy to take a credit card payment over the phone as long as the payment is at least $5. Just call (830)249-3053 during business hours.

8. Does the library have wifi access?

We offer free wifi access throughout the building. You can also print from your device during your library visit.

9. What if I am unable to visit the Library?

The library offers programs and resources to people who aren't able to visit us for any number of reasons. Library staff member Servando Peña goes to the area senior residences and provides a variety of activities.

Additionally, if patrons are not able to come to the library to check out materials, Servando will deliver to the senior residences and will even deliver to homebound patrons. Please contact him if you would like to take advantage of  this free service.

10. Does the library offer local and family history resources?

Our Dietert Historical Archives department, located on the library's second floor, is filled with excellent resources, whether you use our library materials or whether you access our online databases. Please stop by during library business hours and we'll be glad to assist you. Please visit our Local and Family History page.

11. How can I donate my gently used books, etc?

We are happy to accept donations of gently used books, magazines, DVDs and books on CD. Please plan to arrive at the library between the hours of 9 am and noon, Monday through Friday. We ask that you come to the library's staff entrance, which is right before the drive-through book drop. If you're unsure where that is please just call us at 830-249-3053, and we'll guide you in. As always we are so grateful to you for supporting our library through your item donations. Many of them are sold in the Bookshop Under the Windmill, which is operated by the Friends of the Boerne Public Library. The proceeds are used to fund many of our programs and resources. Thank you. 

12. How do I register to vote in Texas?

The library offers voter registration application cards to any eligible voter. You can learn more about voting in Texas, in order to go through the process correctly.
