With the weather warming up, all of our favorite outdoor entertainment series are getting ready to kick back up! These classic Boerne event series bring charm, tradition, food, music, dancing and so much more to this awesome community and only add to its appeal. Jump right in and see for yourself which events are calling your name to get your true Boerne experience. Our calendar of events is kept current and all the details, dates, times, and more for the events below are waiting for you!
1. Hot Rod Nights
Soda Pops is the host of this 1950’s-reminiscent street party that is a gathering place for old and new friends, visitors, and locals! Anyone with a hot rod or classic car is welcome to bring their car or roadster to “show their stuff” and add to the ambiance. Live music always accompanies these events! Various bands play everything from rock and country, to oldies and the best of your most beloved decades. There is no admission charge for getting in, but you may want to BYO (bring your own) lawn chair. Stop into the diner for a juicy burger, or hop on over to Sugar Shack for a sweet treat.
2. Movies in the Park
Every spring and summer, Boerne Parks and Recreation hosts their Movies in the Park series! These are completely FREE events for the whole family. Popular movies are played in various parks around the city each month. This year’s feature presentations will include movies like Incredibles 2, The Grinch, and How To Train Your Dragon: Hidden World. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, picnics and snacks. Set up early for prime viewing and partake in family-friendly pre-movie activities.
3. Moondance Concert Series
Beneath the Texas stars each year from May to September, the Cibolo Center for Conservation hosts their Moondance Concert Series – and a new season is getting ready to begin! This year’s line-up includes plenty of returning favorites from past years. Those who purchase a ticket to attend can expect to find food trucks on site! BYO lawns chairs, blankets and coolers if you so desire.
4. Live! At The Library
Every third Thursday of the month, the Patrick Heath Public Library hosts Live! At The Library in their outdoor amphitheater (don’t worry, if it rains, they move it inside and the fun can still be had)! These concerts are FREE and open to the public. You are welcome to bring chairs, picnics and blankets to these shows as well!
5. Concerts in the Cave
Step down into the Cave Without A Name to experience the hauntingly beautiful acoustic sounds of the Queen’s Throne Room! Concerts down in the cave typically happen once a month, and the echoes of the cave walls have captivated audiences for years. This is unlike any other concert setting you have ever experienced before. The cave is consistently cool at 66 degrees, so be sure to dress for the temperature and include shoes appropriate for damp gravel and stair climbing. Tickets are available for purchase in advance online, or onsite on the day of the events.
6. Abendkonzert
This is a long-standing Boerne summer tradition! Locals say that if you haven’t been to an Abendkonzert, you haven’t experienced Boerne yet. Having formed in the early 1860’s, the Boerne Village Band is the longest continuously playing German band outside of Germany. The Abendkonzert series pays homage to Boerne’s German heritage, bringing joy to the community by way of music and storytelling. This summer, there will be 5 chances to see them play on Main Plaza. Concessions are sold on site, or you can bring your own picnic if you like.
7. Thirst For Nature
The Thirst For Nature Events are another “3rd Thursday” happening here in Boerne! Each event, hosted by the Cibolo Nature Center and Farm, has its own Hill Country theme and always features something educational, while also providing delicious cocktails (and sometimes snacks)! Learn about the area’s flora and fauna, and sip on something handcrafted while you learn, hike, sight-see and more! Tickets can be purchased online or in person.
8. Farmer’s Market at the Cibolo
The Cibolo Nature Center and Farm also hosts the weekly Farmer’s Market at the Cibolo at the Historic Herff Farm. Every Saturday, vendors from the Texas Hill Country make their way to set up their booths, selling farm fresh produce, meats, eggs, coffee, jewelry, leather goods, oils, body products and more! Live music plays along in the background as you waltz through the farm. They regularly host great educational demonstrations and workshops, as well.
Remember, you can find more information on all of these events on our website calendar. Take a look and start scheduling your spring and summer outings!
