The Dienger Trading Co. gets points for the most artistic pot pie in the lineup. It’s served as a Thursday lunch special and is paired with a small green salad. In traditional pot pie fashion, the bowl is topped with a pie crust, but they have added an extra special rooster cutout detail to let you know you’re about to break into something special! Beneath the crust waits a mix of fresh carrots, onions, celery, chicken breast, mushrooms and peas swimming in a creamy Italian herb seasoned stew.
Cypress Grille’s Chicken pot pie has been a local Thursday lunch special favorite for years. They have replaced the traditional pie topping with a buttery puff pastry pillow and topped it with a few freshly prepared green beans. A bowl of this pie is sure to give you enough steam to make it through the rest of your day’s activities! Of the three pies included in this post, it’s the creamiest. It’s even getting rave reviews from folks on TripAdvisor!
Peggy’s on the Green, is the newest addition to the soul food train in Boerne and they do not disappoint! Their buttermilk biscuits alone are worth a lunch outing, but they have taken comfort food to the next level. Peggy’s uses their biscuits as a topper to a generous mix of shredded organic chicken, carrots, peas and potatoes! Pot pie fans will not want to leave town without a bowl. Peggy’s has this dish on their lunch menu daily!
