A whole year of planning is coming to fruition as the holiday season approaches! Kicking it all off on Thanksgiving weekend is Dickens on Main, which transforms the Hill Country Mile into a vintage Christmas wonderland, complete with Christmas “villages," beautiful holiday lights, snow, and an entertainment lineup sure to delight the whole family. You can find a full schedule of events and more online.
The annual Dickens on Main festival will be held Friday and Saturday, November 24 and 25, and will feature all of the favorites to keep the tradition going strong. As always, you can dance in the snow up and down Main Street and get the perfect photo for the family Christmas card, while ice sculpting battles, live music and theatrical performances, free kids crafts, and more will entertain all day long! Food trucks and unique vendors of all types can be found throughout the festival, and of course, all of Boerne's downtown shops will charm you with beautiful decorations, great gifts, and small-town hospitality. You never know what you’ll find along Main Street, as street performers and musicians surprise and delight throughout the venue. Dickens officially kicks off the holidays with the lighting of the Christmas tree in Main Plaza on Friday, November 24, at 6 p.m. Get there early for a Christmas carol sing-a-long, followed by the beautiful sounds of trumpets and more from Castle Brass!
The following Saturday, December 2, Boerne hosts a separate event, the annual Weihnachts Parade, where shops will once again stay open late as more than 100 lighted floats make their way down beautiful Main Street. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair for the parade and enjoy lots of opportunities for snacks, cocktails, and other treats offered along the street. Now in its 32nd year, Weihnachts is the city’s only night parade!
More festivities planned throughout December include A Toast to Olde Town, December 8-10, and Kinder Fest, December 15-17, which are hosted by the Boerne Retailers and Restaurant Association. The perfect time to experience all of the holiday glamour of downtown, but without the bigger crowds, these events offer special activities each weekend, including a Cookie Crawl, Santa visits, and more.
