[ARCHIVED] Annual Independence Day Fireworks Show set for July 4th

The best community fireworks show this side of the Cibolo Creek is scheduled to return Tuesday, July 4. The annual Boerne Independence Day fireworks show is set to begin at 9:15 p.m. and scheduled to last 20-25 minutes.

Please note, unlike in previous years, Boerne City Park will only be available for parking this year. Crews have repositioned where the fireworks are set off, to allow for increased spectator safety and to reduce fire risk and most of the soccer fields fall within the required buffer zone while others are closed for repairs. The show is free and open to the public with prime viewing available at the Kendall County Fairgrounds and Champion High School.

There will be a food truck vendor at City Park, but spectators can bring their own snacks and beverages. Just remember, glass is not allowed. The show is best enjoyed on a lawn chair or blanket, but we ask families not to bring tents so as to avoid blocking the show from the people around them. Lastly, though pets are not prohibited, it is best to leave them at home where they will be more comfortable and in a less noisy environment.

To prepare for the show, on Tuesday morning a fireworks team will begin setting up and loading the tubes. The tubes have to be properly set up, cleaned, and anchored together, with the larger tubes being buried for safety purposes. Then the process of loading more than 500 tubes with the fireworks material begins.

Emergency crews and equipment are also strategically located in the fireworks “fall zone” to prevent potential fire issues. The State of Texas requires that a qualified individual with a pyrotechnic license manage and oversee the entire show from start to finish. Fire Chief Manny Casarez will be in charge of shooting the show.

For any additional questions, please contact Boerne Parks and Recreation at (830) 248-1635. You can also monitor the City of Boerne Facebook page for any additional announcements.

Residents are reminded that City ordinances prohibit personal fireworks inside the City limits, which includes the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Bring your own refreshments, along with blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the show!
