City’s Communications Office wins 2 statewide awards

The City of Boerne Communications Department brought home two awards from the annual conference of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO).

The City won first place in the Best Strategic Plan category for the Boerne Family Tree rebranding project. The citywide rebrand, launched in late summer 2022, introduced an all-new logo, color palette, typeface, and overall branding guidelines to the City of Boerne. Additionally, new logos were developed for seven City departments, including the Library, Utilities, Visit Boerne, Parks and Recreation, Police, Fire, and Animal Care Services.

The new brand established a consistent theme among City departments and created a foundation for the future. It has since been implemented on numerous public-facing locations and has been fully integrated into the City’s refreshed website as of May 2023.

The City also won a second place award in the Best Marketing Campaign category for the development of educational materials to inform residents of the November 2022 bond election.

From public town halls and pop-up tents at citywide events, to meetings with dozens of community groups, the City utilized multiple communication methods to inform and educate residents of the bond propositions. A robust bond webpage and readily accessible project details provided clear and reliable messaging, according to the judges.

The conference, held in Arlington in early June, is a gathering of municipal communicators from cities and counties across the state. This year, TAMIO had a record-breaking 547 award entries across 29 categories. TAMIO is a network of communications professionals dedicated to informing Texas citizens of important issues in municipal government.
