Prop A and Prop B Approved
The City of Boerne’s two bond propositions were approved by voters in the November 8, 2022, General Election. The two propositions – Prop A for Streets and Mobility ($23 million) and Prop B for Parks and Open Space ($13 million) – were both approved by City of Boerne residents.
“This tells me City Council is connected to our community properly and residents see the value in moving forward with Prop A and Prop B,” Mayor Tim Handren said. “Now the work begins to start doing all the things we need to do to get these planned, started, and then finished.”
This is just the fifth bond election the City has called since 1972, and was by far the highest percentage of voter participation in City history.
“The City of Boerne is eager to get started on these projects that have been continually identified by our residents as critical needs,” City Manager Ben Thatcher said. “Our staff is committed to keeping the community informed on the progress of these projects as we work to minimize the impact of construction on residents’ daily lives.”
The City canvassed the election votes on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at a Special Called City Council Meeting. Click here to watch the meeting.
With the propositions approved, the City will now develop a project bid schedule with the first bonds likely to be issued in early 2023 to allow projects to start as soon as possible.
