Employee Appreciation and Recognition

Each of the City of Boerne’s more than 300 employees work diligently each day to make our community a wonderful place to live. Their efforts can be seen across all departments and are evidenced by the numerous state and national awards our colleagues bring home to Boerne each year.

For the first time since the start of the pandemic, all City of Boerne employees gathered August 25 for an Employee Appreciation Lunch. During the superhero-themed gathering, employees were recognized for tenure milestones for their time with the City.

Several awards were also given out to those employees who have gone above and beyond in their service to the community during the last year. The Directors' Awards and the Value Awards were presented for the first time this year. See below for a full list of the employees who were recognized.

Value Awards

The five Value Awards are given to employees from any department who best represented each of the City of Boerne’s Core Values – Collaboration, Respect, Excellence, Integrity, and Service.

Paul Barwick

Collaboration – Paul Barwick

Special Projects Director Paul Barwick is the first recipient of the City of Boerne’s Value Award for Collaboration.

Paul has collaborated with most every other City department and countless other organizations on projects that are enjoyed and beloved by the Boerne community. He brings people to the table and finds community members whose expertise best serve the project at hand. He accomplishes projects with modesty while preserving history, respecting the land, and leaving Boerne more unique and memorable than when he arrived.

Robin Stauber

Respect - Robin Stauber

Adult Services Liberian Robin Stauber is the first recipient of the City of Boerne’s Value Award for Respect.

Robin has an amazing gift of relationship building and possesses an instinctive ability to inspire those around her to best utilize their individual talents toward the collective goal. She conducts her work out of a respect for people and the community with a level of compassion and kindness that knows no measure.

Ryan Cook

Excellence – Ryan Cook

Boerne Police Officer Ryan Cook is the first recipient of the City of Boerne’s Value Award for Excellence.

Ryan has fulfilled several positions at the Police Department, striving toward excellence in each area while growing in her career. She began as a records clerk before moving to the Criminal Investigations Division. She then trained to become a Police Officer and is the current School Resource Officer at Cibolo Creek Elementary. She continues to spark desire in others while maintaining the same degree of excellence in her work.

Ron Lambert

Integrity – Ron Lambert

Ron Lambert, Service Worker II with the Boerne Parks and Recreation Department, is the first recipient of the City of Boerne’s Value Award for Integrity.

Ron has exemplified integrity from day one – long before it was identified as one of the City’s core values. His strong desire to produce quality work often results in time spent researching a particular problem after hours to be better prepared to tackle it the next day. Throughout it all, Ron takes time to teach his colleagues and help them improve their skills. His presence, creativity, and perseverance are enjoyed by all those who visit our beautiful parks.

Carlos Chavez

Service – Carlos Chavez

Senior Plants Operator Carlos Chavez is the first recipient of the City of Boerne’s Value Award for Service.

With the City of Boerne since 1989, Carlos is the second most tenured City of Boerne employee. He works behind the scenes and understands the importance of his work for the citizens of Boerne. His expertise and knowledge of the innerworkings of all the City’s water treatment facilities is a vital resource to the entire Utilities Department. Carlos gives his all every day and is quick to great you with a friendly hello. His dedication to service has benefited the Boerne community for more than 30 years.
