At the Aug. 16, 2022, Boerne City Council meeting, councilmembers voted to call for a $36 million Quality of Life Bond Election to be held in conjunction with the General Election on Nov. 8, 2022.

“This bond program addresses important community needs consistently identified by our residents in surveys and master plans,” Mayor Tim Handren said in a statement. “City Council and staff have worked hard to identify these projects and create a bond program that addresses citizens’ priorities and is fiscally responsible and feasible.”

The $36 million bond program will be voted on by Boerne residents, who will decide on two propositions.

  • Proposition A covers Streets and Mobility and totals $23 million. This proposition would provide funding for improvements to the City of Boerne’s existing roadways, turn lanes, intersections, and traffic signals.
  • Proposition B covers Parks and Open Space and totals $13 million. This proposition would provide funding for the development and improvement of the City of Boerne’s parks, trails, and open spaces.

The bond program was developed based on input from the 2021 Citizen Survey, as well as the 2018 Master Plan, the Mobility Master Plan, and the Parks Master Plan. City Council focused on the critical needs of the City to create the two propositions and identify projects during bond workshops held throughout the spring and summer.

The City of Boerne will host several online and in-person opportunities leading up to the election for residents to learn more about the potential projects.

Residents will vote on the City of Boerne Quality of Life Bond Election on Election Day, Nov. 8, 2022. The bond election is being held in conjunction with the General Election for local, state, and federal offices.

Early voting will be held from Oct. 24 – Nov. 4, 2022. To cast a ballot in the bond election, voters must be both registered in and be a resident of the city limits of the City of Boerne.

Visit the bond election webpage to see a list of potential bond projects and learn more.
