Visit Boerne: CVB gets new name for destination marketing

The City of Boerne’s Convention and Visitors Bureau will now be known simply as Visit Boerne – a change that more accurately represents the work of the department’s dedicated staff.

The switch to Visit Boerne reflects a state and nationwide shift in the rebranding of local CVBs as destination marketing organizations, or DMOs.

“Boerne is a prime example of a leisure-driven marketplace, where most of our occupied rooms are individual, leisure transient in nature,” Visit Boerne Director Larry Woods said. “By marketing Boerne as a destination, we have seen a record year for hotel occupancy in 2021 and are on pace to surpass that again in 2022.”

Many small and midsized cities are not true Convention and Visitors Bureaus in that many do not have convention centers, and only a small portion of their hotel room bookings are meeting- or convention-related. Boerne falls into this category, with only about 5 percent of hotel bookings being attributable to group business.

About a third of the CVBs in Texas have changed their names to include the “visit” moniker. Boerne joins cities like Dallas, Waco, San Antonio, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Bandera, and many more.

Visit Boerne markets the city to potential visitors by highlighting our world-class shopping, dining, outdoor activities, and lodging, much of which is located on the storied Hill Country Mile.

While this will remain the focus of Visit Boerne, department staff will continue to connect businesses and other organizations to hotels in our community that can accommodate their needs for meeting spaces.
