[ARCHIVED] Major lane shift on I-10 in Boerne set for July 5

Drone shot of I-10 at Highway 46 with text reading "Major Lane Shift on I-10"

The Texas Department of Transportation will begin shifting traffic on all main lanes of I-10 in Boerne starting on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

Crews will begin shifting traffic in segments at 9 p.m. on July 5. Multiple nights may be required to complete the work with lane shifts being done only between the hours of 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. until the work is complete. The shift is expected to be completed by the morning of Friday, July 9.

The two eastbound and two westbound lanes of I-10 from Highway 46 to Scenic Loop Road will be shifted to other sections of the interstate that are currently work areas. The shift will place the eastbound main lanes back into the normal configuration and the westbound lanes will be moved south of their current orientation.

This work will require the temporary closure of the westbound I-10 entrance ramp from Scenic Loop Road. During the closure, westbound traffic from Scenic Loop Road will detour using the westbound frontage road, cross Business Highway 87 (all-way stop), and then enter I-10 West at the next entrance ramp near Highway 46.

The lane shift is being done to facilitate work on other sections along the interstate, including the new Business Highway 87 bridge and the westbound I-10 entrance ramp from Scenic Loop Road.

Please use caution when driving through the area and the new I-10 configuration. Slow down and allow extra time to get to your destination.

Visit the I-10 Construction page for the latest updates.
