City, community partners deliver holiday gift bags to Boerne school kids

Staff from the city and community partners prepare gift bags

Spreading cheer this holiday season, city staff and our community partners delivered almost 100 gift bags to students at Boerne I.S.D.’s Herff Elementary School.

Communications staff from the City of Boerne, Boerne I.S.D., Boerne Kendall County Economic Development Corporation, and the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce collected the donated items from several business and nonprofits in town and gathered to prepare the gift bags.

Each bag contained a coupon for a free meal at Raising Cane's in Boerne, coloring books from Boerne Parks and Rec. and the Patrick Heath Public Library, toiletry kits from Hill Country Family Services, and lots of other snacks and fun items. A few of the bags even had tickets for a Christmas movie experience at the Santikos Palladium.

“We would like to thank all of the organizations and businesses that donated items for this giveaway,” City of Boerne Communications Director Chris Shadrock said. “Working with our community partners was a delight. It was wonderful to see the community come together to make our first-ever Holiday Gift Bag Donation Drive a success.”

The total value of all the bags and items given away was more than $2,000. The city and its partners plan to do another gift bag drive next year!
