The City of Boerne has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.
The award was given in recognition for the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending on Sept. 30, 2020. This is the thirty-fourth consecutive year the City of Boerne has received this award.
“The City is proud of the diligent work done by our Finance Department and we are grateful for their continued efforts to maintain accurate and easily accessible records,” City Manager Ben Thatcher said. “Congratulations to the entire Finance team on this much-deserved award.”
The report was judged by an impartial panel and found to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” the GFOA said in a statement. “We hope that your example will encourage other government officials in their efforts to achieve and maintain an appropriate standard of excellence in financial reporting.”
