The Hill Country’s favorite holiday kickoff, Dickens on Main, is back--and now part of a lineup of festivities that includes three more unique weekends of holiday fun! “A Dickens Celebration” will begin with a reimagined Dickens on Main the evenings of Thanksgiving Weekend, November 26 and 27, where snow is in the forecasts and guests can stroll along a traffic-free Main Street, freely crossing from shop to shop while enjoying holiday music, festivities and fun surprises along the way. As in years past, streets will close at 4 p.m., but the Dickens fun begins each day when stores open at 10 a.m. The Dickens Handmade Market opens at noon in Dickens Village (Main Plaza) where visitors will enjoy a variety of performances each afternoon and evening. Stay late to kick off your holiday shopping as stores along the Hill Country Mile will stay open until 9 PM.
The following weekend, December 3 and 4, is Weihnachts Weekend, with boutiques open 10 AM to 9 PM daily and the 34th annual Weihnachts parade at 6 PM on Saturday. The Weihnachts Handmade Market starts at noon on Main Plaza each day where families will love the Birds of Prey show by Last Chance Forever and Christmas music from the Boerne Village Band—the oldest continuously active German band in the world outside of Germany!
The celebration continues as Boerne’s downtown businesses are hosting two more weekends of fun, including “Toast of Olde Town” December 8, 10, and 11, which includes a classic holiday movie in the park, wassail sampling, late-night shopping, and supervised kids programming at the Patrick Heath Public Library to give parents some holiday downtime (limited availability, stay tuned for details.)
December 17 and 18 is “Kinder Fest” -- a family-focused weekend of fun including visits with Santa, a scavenger hunt, cookie crawl, real reindeer, and more. Sunday, December 19 wraps up the celebration with a family holiday movie at the amphitheater at Patric Heath Public Library.
Each weekend will include lots of surprises and delights, with traditional carolers, amazing performers, and more strolling Main Street hoping to spread smiles and cheer throughout the celebration! So much is happening, we encourage you to visit www.adickenscelebration.com for more information and a schedule as it becomes available. More information and fun can be found by following on Facebook and Instagram @dickenscelebrationboerne, and be sure to tag your Boerne holiday fun with #boernechristmas!
