Ready to try something new or maybe discover a classic cocktail that is new to you? Salvador Dobbs has come through with some fan favorites from their recipe book for you to try at home as the weather turns cooler and we lean into cocktails with darker spirits.
Spiced Apple Mule
Enjoy a fall twist on a refreshing Moscow Mule. The traditional Mule calls for vodka, but a spiced rum swap provides a whole different flavor profile that is sure to delight.
Ingredients:
Spiced Apple Rum 2oz
Lime Juice .75 oz
Ginger Beer 4 oz
Add ice in a copper mule mug, then top with Spiced Apple Rum, lime juice and finish with ginger beer. Garnish with a fresh apple slice.
Boulevardier
A classic prohibition-era drink that was first noted in 1927 but was lost in time, has been brought back by Dobbs for all to enjoy. More of a gin fan? If you swap out the whiskey for gin it’s called a Negroni, created by wild west rodeo clown, Count Camillo Negroni.
Ingredients:
Campari 1oz
Sweet Vermouth 1oz
Rye Whiskey 1oz
In a mixing glass, pour all ingredients over ice and stir (don’t shake) to chill and combine ingredients. Then strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lemon or orange twist. Also nice over a simple rock in a rocks glass.
Gold Rush
Another classic cocktail that has been perfected over at Dobbs. The warmth of the honey flavor helps transition this beverage from a summer refresher to a fall favorite. Again, if you like gin, ask for a Bees Knees.
Ingredients:
Canadian Whiskey 2oz
Lemon juice .75 oz
Honey simple syrup .75 oz
Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass. Shake to chill and strain into a rocks glass.
