Kitten rescued from truck engine by Animal Care Services

ACS technicians Stefanie and Elida with rescue kitten Ford

Two technicians from Boerne Animal Care Services rescued a 5-week-old kitten from the engine bay of large pickup truck this week.

Ellie Huron and Stefanie Fisher responded to the call on Monday after a man heard the kitten crying while driving through town. He pulled over and discovered the kitten in his truck’s engine bay.

Ellie and Stefanie worked for about two hours trying to coax the kitten out from its hiding spot against the truck’s fan blade. With help from the truck’s owner, Ellie was finally able to pull him free.

ACS named the kitten Ford, after the pickup he was rescued from. Aside from some motor oil on his fur and dehydration, he was thankfully free from serious injuries. Ford was taken to Herbst Veterinary Hospital to be treated for the dehydration before settling in at the ACS shelter.

Ford, along with several of his friends, are available for adoption. If you’d like to adopt Ford or another cat or dog, you can schedule an appointment to visit the ACS shelter by calling (830) 249-2456 or by emailing [email protected].
