Boerne Parks and Rec. recognized for outstanding athletic programs

Boerne Parks and Rec. receives Platinum Member Award

The Texas Amateur Athletic Federation awarded two recognitions to the Boerne Parks and Recreation Department and its staff at the organization’s 96th annual conference in Wichita Falls this week.

With over 140 member organizations, including the City of Boerne, TAAF is a nonprofit that promotes, organizes, and conducts amateur athletics in the state of Texas.

Boerne Parks and Recreation was recognized at the conference with the TAAF Platinum Member City Award in recognition of the department’s outstanding registration support for teams, individuals, and TAAF training programs over the last year.

“Our staff provides several recreation options for our community,” Boerne Parks and Recreation Superintendent Lissette Jimenez said. “This award reflects the hard work of our recreation coordinators.”

Boerne Parks and Rec was further recognized at the conference when Jimenez was presented the TAAF President’s Excellence Award in recognition of her dedication and outstanding service to the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. It was her second time to receive the award.

“The City of Boerne is home to several beautiful public parks and offers some of the best recreation opportunities in the state,” Assistant City Manager Danny Zincke said. “All of that is made possible by the staff of the Parks and Recreation Department, whose commitment to the community is on display every day.”

Boerne Parks and Recreation maintains nine public parks and three trails that run throughout the city. The department also coordinates and operates recreational athletic programs for adults and youth.
