Now that we wander around with a camera in our pocket or purse via our cell phones, it’s never been easier to capture our special moments while traveling. Boerne has become a rather selfie-worthy destination. You can’t help but want to document the moment in front of multiple murals and an abundance of statues that encourage a burst of silliness.
We welcome you to scout out all of these locations and post your best selfie on your favorite social media channel. Don’t forget to give the Boerne Visitors Center a tag. You never know when your photo may be featured! We’re @visitboerne on Instagram and “Boerne” on Facebook.
Murals:
Boerne Postcard Mural - Greetings from Boerne, TX!- Inspired by “old-fashioned” postcards travelers used to send home while vacationing, this mural is the most sought-after Instagrammable spot on the Hill Country Mile. Located on The Corner Cartel’s exterior wall (265 S. Main St) adjacent to 259 Brantly’s Bistro and Bar. Grab a drink, do a little shopping, and use #BoerneMural when posting your pics like @tonymaples did.
Blue Vintage Wings- Currently there are two sets of these wings on the Hill Country Mile. They were designed and created by the Girl With Grit team. The original set is on the side of the building at 615 S. Main St. The second, and VERY new set can be found on the side of the home of The Sanctuary, a charming boutique located at 322 S. Main St. Make sure to use #sanctuaryvintage and tag @sanctuaryvintage when posting to social media. Stop by for pictures and pop in to discover an array of fun and funky vintage treasures.
Tom’s Cut and Color- The latest pop of exterior wall color can be found on the side of Tom’s Cut and Color at 247 N. Main St. @trixy.sky have been popping around town recently and couldn't help but stop for a quick photo in front of these cool shades of blue too.
Corner Cupboard – A little off the beaten path is a colorful mural located outside of the Hill Country Family Service, Corner Cupboard next to the Random Hangars Thrift Shop. Its bright and colorful fruits and vegetables bring attention to the mission of the organization. With help from HEB, the Corner Cupboard was designed to give clients the “small grocery store feeling”, while addressing their individual family’s food needs. Students from Champion High School’s art department were given the freedom to design and create this mural for the community. Swing by for a photo to round out your Boerne mural photography collection!
Statues & Props:
Feel like striking a pose with something (or someone) fun? The Boerne Art Al Fresco program provides a collection of permanent and temporary statues to fill this need! Download the Otocast app and enjoy the audio tour that is paired with this outdoor exhibit as you snap your way across town.
Snuggle up on a bench with a character from the wild wild west! No, Wild Bill Hickock never visited Boerne when he was alive, but he sure has become a popular fixture in front of Main Plaza at 100 N. Main St., and folks enjoy taking their own #wildbillselfie when they walk by.
Flashback Funtiques not only has a life-sized COW, rotating gas pumps, and other props next to their building, their shop is full of funky retro paraphernalia that just begs to be posed with. Tag them on Instagram when you post, @flashback_funtiques, like @mycurlyadventures_ did!
By no means is this a complete list of fun photo-ops in Boerne. Next time you’re here to #visitboerne, explore, discover, and share your own #boernemoment!
