[ARCHIVED] City of Boerne/Kendall County to pause sign-ups for COVID-19 vaccine waitlist

The Boerne/Kendall County COVID-19 vaccine HUB is pausing sign-ups on our vaccination waitlist effective immediately.

Since we began providing COVID-19 vaccines in February, we have administered thousands of doses of the vaccine to our residents and neighbors.

With the launch of the waitlist in March, our united vaccination program committed to providing everyone eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine the opportunity and this weekend our final appointments were sent out.

“If 2020 taught us anything it is that we are all required to do our part and work collaboratively as a community,” Mayor Tim Handren said. “The beginning of 2021 brought us vaccines to help end a global pandemic and we were willing and ready to help as many people as we could to get vaccinated, as efficiently as we could. I, and our City Council, are incredibly proud of our employees, who represented all departments, and worked together to run this vaccine HUB. With servants’ hearts, they performed a wonderful service to our residents and others throughout our region.”

“I cannot say enough how great a job our team did to take on the vaccine HUB,” City Manager Ben Thatcher said. “The Cana Ballroom served as a wonderful, centralized location and a great venue and we’re very appreciative of our partnership with St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Our volunteers created a friendly environment, one in which people were treated with care and respect.”

“‘Well-run’, ‘organized’ and ‘efficient’ are words many people used to describe their HUB vaccine experience,” Kendall County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Fincke said. “With options to receive the vaccine in Boerne or Comfort there is no doubt we have helped protect our community’s most vulnerable.”

The Boerne/Kendall County vaccine HUB enlisted help from several invaluable partners.

  • St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and its volunteer groups
  • The American Red Cross of Central and South Texas
  • UT-Health San Antonio
  • UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Kronkosky Place
  • My Urgent Care Boerne
  • Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce
  • Cibolo Family Medicine Group

Tomorrow, April 21, 2021 the Boerne/Kendall County vaccine clinic will be open from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for anyone, 18 years or older, to get their first dose. The clinic will be held at the Cana Ballroom at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 202 W. Kronkosky, in Boerne.  This will be the LAST CHANCE to get the first dose of the MODERNA vaccine at the Boerne/Kendall County sponsored clinic.

After this final opportunity, anyone still needing the vaccine should contact their primary care physician, H-E-B, Walmart, CVS or My Urgent Care Boerne on River Road to schedule appointments.
