Project Timeline

The UDC was anticipated to be adopted in April 2020.  Due to COVID-19, the UDC adoption was delayed.  A draft is available for review and comment. The first phase of adoption was completed in December 2020.  The second phase of adoption which includes overlay districts is currently underway.

Project Background

The City’s Unified Development Code (UDC) project began in 2019.  It is the first major project undertaken to implement the Boerne Master Plan updated in 2018.  The UDC will combine various city ordinances relating to development into a single document.  With the new UDC, the City can assure consistency to minimize confusion and contradiction between different ordinances, align development regulations with the Master Plan, and provide a more comprehensive and efficient development process.  As part of the UDC, overlay districts will be created and a citywide rezoning will be undertaken creating a path for sustainable development while protecting the values of the community, the environment and the economic viability of our City.
