City recognized as Tree City USA community for 11th straight year

Arbor Day 2020

The city has once again been named a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation.

The honor is bestowed upon communities that show a commitment to effective urban forest management.

By having a tree board/department, tree care ordinance, annual community forestry budget and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation, Boerne met the requirements for the designation.

"Tree City USA communities see the impact an urban forest has in a community first hand," Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation, said. "The trees being planted and cared for by Boerne are ensuring that generations to come will enjoy a better quality of life."

Though Arbor Day 2021 is celebrated nationally on April 30, the city will continue to recognize the day with our annual tree planting event in November in partnership with Texas Arbor Day. Stay tuned for details.
