As we head into the spring season people may find themselves out in their yards adding to their gardens or landscaping.
Before you dig, however, you are asked to call 811 to make sure there are not underground utility lines. People can also make a request online. One of the biggest contributors to damages lines are hand tools. More than 80% of "no call" damages involving hand tools damaged gas facilities.
At the end of 2019, Texas811 researched 505 Texas homeowners. We learned that 74% did not know that “call before you dig” is the law.
Founded in 1984, the non-profit Texas811 is the largest one-call contact notification center in the country with more than 2,000 members.
