Heads up, drivers. There are a couple of big changes coming this weekend as construction progresses at the I-10 and Main Street interchange. Starting April 10, TxDOT will be shifting traffic onto the new South Main Street/Business 87 bridge as well as fully converting traffic on the eastbound access road to one-way.
So, you might be asking what is that going to look like for drivers?
If you are coming from Boerne to go into San Antonio, you will travel over the new bridge and then turn left onto the new lanes of the access road, which parallels I-10.
For drivers coming into Boerne, if you are traveling on the westbound access road you will now be able to utilize the new turnaround lane on the new bridge to access the eastbound frontage road.
Right now, traffic will only be open to one-way traffic.
That is the area shaded in green on the graphic.
If you are traveling down the EB access road from Highway 46, you will travel as you always have. However, with the closure of the side road that currently connects the old on-ramp and the access road, there will now be a merger point in front of Allways Automotive.
Safe travels, Boerne.
