The corner of Main Street and River Road has been the home to the historic Sach’s Garage building since 1916. It’s currently being lovingly restored and will soon house an assortment of new and relocated businesses. In anticipation of a very successful Diva Night, two such businesses opened their doors and began serving customers and visitors to Boerne. Join us in welcoming J. Forks Designs and The Loft to the Hill Country Mile!
Jenny Forks, owner of J. Forks Designs is no stranger to Boerne. She started out here in Boerne years ago with a small jewelry shop on Main Street. After a good while in Bandera, her business has grown in size and popularity with her designs being sold in more than 450 stores in a total of six countries. She couldn’t be more excited to move her studio and manufacturing headquarters back to Boerne though. Guests can watch her and her team hard at work in the creative process of making and designing handcrafted jewelry and graphic tees through the large windows in the spacious hallway in Sach’s Garage. Watch skills like silversmithing, leatherwork, and hand-loomed beadwork by local artisans. J. Forks Designs, a family run business, occupies a portion of the first floor of the building and houses her manufacturing headquarters in the back and the retail in the front. Shoppers can expect to find trendy western inspired finds as well as her own line of graphic tees and stunningly bold jewelry designs in the very open space. Her mission is to “help embolden people to feel both beautiful and confident while tackling life’s obstacles”.
Meander around the side of the Sach’s Garage building, and climb the stairs to access a new Boerne treasure. The Loft, home of BH Originals, features art in a variety of mediums by local fine artist and graphic designer Brandi Hartigan. Brandi has set up her artistic oasis to be a warm and welcoming social hub for locals and visitors alike. She welcomes each guest and offers a complimentary beverage to enjoy while leisurely perusing her unique and varied art or lounging on the second-floor balcony. The space houses not only Brandi’s gallery but also her studio where you can see pieces that she’s currently working on and inquire about her process. The balcony is the perfect place to sit and relax while watching Boerne life unfold on the Hill Country Mile. “BH Originals captures the fine art that’s all around us every day.” – B Hartigan
More businesses are set to arrive in the Sach’s Garage building in the near future. Keep an eye out for the return of Boerne Taco House in their new location as well as another woman-owned business, Bison Union. BTH became a popular breakfast and lunch hotspot and the Boerne community is eagerly awaiting their reopening in this new location. Bison Union will be located across the hall from J. Forks and will also offer a selection of clothing as well as their own blend of coffee available for purchase by the bag. Swing by and welcome these new folks to the downtown Boerne scene!
