Human Trafficking Prevention Certification Course

Thursday, August 11, 2022

This training course is an hour long and plainly describes laws and concrete steps on how frontline staff can personally make a difference in the lives of children and adults who are exploited every day.

Texas’s new human trafficking prevention training REQUIREMENT for hotel employees formally took effect on January 1st. The new LAW is administered by the Texas Office of the Attorney General (OAG), and it requires all commercial lodging establishments with more than 10 rooms and the direct employees of vacation rental companies, if the company manages more than 10 rooms annually train employees on recognizing human trafficking activity.

Designed for hoteliers, this training course is an hour long and plainly describes laws and concrete steps on how frontline staff can personally make a difference in the lives of children and adults who are exploited every day. Attendees will be equipped with best practices to identify, and report suspected trafficking incidents, prevent trafficking, and increase hotel safety. In addition, each attendee will learn how to protect their hotel from legal risks, security risks, and reputational risks. Everyone will receive a certificate upon completion.

As you may know, one of the biggest challenges that affects our society today is human trafficking. What you may not know is that TEXAS RANKS SECOND IN THE NATION FOR REPORTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASES.

You have the opportunity to learn more about this on-going crisis and how it affects our very own community. One of the leaders in the education of this topic and how we can identify and combat this crime is The Texas Hotel Lodging Association. Through their efforts and collaboration with the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Visit Boerne and THLA are providing a teaching seminar in our community to learn more. Please consider attending this seminar or sending a representative.

**Please bring a mobile device, tablet, or computer to complete the questionnaire for certification.
