Lattes & the Library: Naomi Shihab Nye, Thursday, July 2nd @ 11 am
Thursday, July 2, 2020
This event is titled: "Five Friends You Didn’t Know You Had: Spanning the Globe Through Poems." Adults and Teens are invited to join us as award-winning author and poet Naomi Shihab Nye leads us through a poetry workshop via ZOOM, based on her anthology "This Same Sky," which features 129 voices from 68 different countries. Participants will discover new poets and their writings, from all over the world, and be able to write and read their own short poetry at this workshop. Naomi Shihab Nye is the Young People's Poet Laureate (Poetry Foundation) and the poetry editor for the New York Times Magazine. She lives in San Antonio. Her most recent books are "Cast Away" (it's about TRASH!) and The "Tiny Journalist," which won the Texas Institute of Letters Best Poetry Book of the year, 2020. This program is limited to 30 participants. Please contact Caren: creech@boernelibrary.org if you are interested in this event.
