Tree City USA
Celebrate Arbor Day with Boerne Parks and Recreation! Join us each year in November as we plant trees at our local parks.
The City of Boerne has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for 12 years in a row, planting nearly 2,000 trees in that time. Some of the benefits of planting trees include reducing energy consumption, keeping the city cooler in the hot summer months, helping to clean water, and creating animal habitats to encourage biodiversity, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
Boerne Parks and Recreation is grateful for the support of our sponsors Boerne Noon Rotary Club, Boerne Native Plant Society, and Burkett Arbor Care for their support of these efforts.
Our Next Arbor Day Celebration
While Arbor Day is observed nationally in April, Texas Arbor Day is held on the first Friday in November, when the weather is more favorable to planting trees.
Follow Parks and Recreation on Facebook and Instagram and check out the calendar to stay up to find out where we will be planting trees this November. Call the Parks and Recreation office at (830) 248-1635 if you have any other questions about this event.
