Departments
Boerne is a full-service, home-rule city home to more than 19,000 residents spread across approximately 14 square miles. In order to serve our residents and 275 employees, we utilize a wide array of departments within our City organization to provide services.

Administration
The City of Boerne’s Administration Department consists of the following offices: Mayor, City Council, City Manager, City Attorney, City Secretary, and Human Resources.

Animal Care Services
Animal Care Services provides shelter for unwanted, stray, abused, and impounded animals while balancing the health, public safety, and welfare needs of people and animals.

City Attorney
The City Attorney’s Office provides legal advice to the City Council, City Boards and Commissions, the City Manager, and other City officials and staff. Pursuant to the Charter, the City Attorney is appointed by the City Council.

City Manager
The City Manager works in close partnership with the Mayor and City Council, who are responsible for setting the policy direction of the City.

City Secretary
The City Secretary acts as the compliance officer for federal, state, and local statutes, including the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act, and serves as the filing authority for campaign finance reports and financial disclosure statements.

Communications
The office provides City government and utilities information to the public using a variety of resources to educate and inform on City of Boerne topics, news, and projects.

Customer Care and Billing
Customer Care and Billing department assists our Boerne Utilities residential and commercial customers with establishing and managing their utility services.

Development Services
Development Services helps residents and developers navigate the planning, building, and engineering process in Boerne from one central location online.

Economic Development
Encourages development opportunities consistent with current land use and other policies, while promoting Boerne as an excellent and desirable place to locate a business.

Emergency Management
The OEM develops, plans & manages operations in the event of a city-wide emergency or disaster. They oversee a coordinated response with other first responding agencies.

Engineering and Mobility
Containing seven divisions, a primary function of Engineering and Mobility is the engineering review of public infrastructure for residential and commercial projects within the city limits.

Finance
Responsible for all fiscal matters related to the City, the department optimally manages finances to ensure proper safeguarding and preservation of City assets.

Fire
BFD is committed to providing the highest level of public safety service, with a mission to protect lives and property and rapid mobilization in the event of an emergency.

Fire Marshal
Responsible for investigating all fires within the City, this office conducts annual Commercial Property Inspections as well as Residential Inspections upon request to assist with fire safety.

Human Resources
Human Resources contributes to the City's success through the development and administration of quality programs, and services to enhance the work environment.

Information Technology
Through its support of all City offices, the Information Technology team contributes enormous value to the workings and operations of the City of Boerne Government and Utility offices.

Library
The Patrick Heath Public Library cultivates a love of reading, enriches lives through life-long learning and cultural exploration, and provides a welcoming space for people to engage and connect.

Municipal Court
Municipal Court is committed to adjudicating Class C misdemeanor offenses while adhering to the principles of fair, impartial, and efficient justice, administered timely and respectfully.

Parks & Recreation
Providing quality parks/facilities, highly-trained staff, special events and programming, we strive to improve the quality of life; promote tourism; and contribute to community aesthetics.

Permitting and Code Compliance
Permitting and Code Compliance ensures the City is home to safe, high-quality buildings. Staff process contractor registration and permit applications, check for compliance, and inspect all construction work.

Planning
Planning is responsible for guiding the city’s long range planning efforts and implementing the city’s comprehensive plan for future growth and development.

Police
BPD works with citizens to protect life and property, prevent crime, and preserve peace. The department strives to demonstrate the values of integrity, justice, service, trust, and responsibility.

Utilities
Boerne owns and operates its own electric, water, wastewater, and natural gas systems. The utility operates under the regulatory jurisdiction of multiple state agencies.
