Responsibilities

Utilizing a variety of outreach methods, the Communications Department works to share timely and accurate information on Boerne’s local government and utility businesses. This office also serves as the public information arm of the city’s government and is the point of contact for media outlets to request comments and additional information on city matters.

Boerne News

Boerne News is an online publication dedicated to communicating city information ranging from staff announcements to community events and infrastructure projects.

Social Media

The city maintains an active social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (include links) to communicate information from the city government. Other departments within the city maintain separate social media accounts for even more specialized information.

E-Newsletter and Civic Alerts

The Communications Department produces a monthly email newsletter recapping the previous month and previewing information for the month to come. We also manage Civic Alerts – timely messages sent straight to your phone or email.

Communications Staff

Chris Shadrock | Communications Director

Chris was born in San Antonio, raised in the Texas Hill Country and is a proud graduate of Boerne High School. His desire to learn about the world and different places landed him in Vermont for his undergraduate studies. He returned home as the City’s Communications Manager in 2019.

Robert Taylor | Digital Managing Editor

Robert graduated from Texas State University with a degree in mass communication and spent the first seven years of his career working in local TV news and higher education in San Antonio. He joined the City of Boerne's communication team as the Digital Managing Editor in 2021.
