River Road Park

Ongoing Bank Stabilization Project

River Road Park is currently undergoing a major project to stabilize the bank of Cibolo Creek and install new amenities for the public to enjoy. Park and trail access will be limited during this time with periodic closures of some parts of the park. Street parking will also be limited. Construction is scheduled to run from early September 2023 until spring of 2024. Learn more about the project.

Park Overview

Running along Cibolo Creek, River Road Park is one of the most popular parks in Boerne. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the paved Cibolo Trail spanning the length of the park or drop a hook in the water (license required) and see what you catch.

River Road Park is right across the street from several local restaurants and shops. Be sure to use the designated pedestrian crossing while grabbing a bite to eat. You'll be sure to see the variety of wild ducks and geese that call the park home, but please don't feed them.

History of River Road Park

One of the unique features of River Road Park is the dam located at the east end of the park. The dam was deeded to the City of Boerne in July 1912. It was originally known as the old Dietert Mill Dam and was part of the old Dietert homestead, which was on the south bank of the Cibolo Creek.

Originally called Riverside Park, the park underwent a facelift in 2013 when new picnic tables, sidewalks, irrigation, sod, trees, and fishing piers were installed.
