Boerne shines with an abundance of culinary selections! Even though Boerne has German roots, you’ll find cuisine from around the world in settings from casual to chic and everything in between. Visit our Where to Shop, Where to Eat, and Where to Stay pages to find out how to make the most out of your dream getaway!
DAY 1: Take it Easy Strolling Historic Main Street
• Spend your first day visiting the unique boutiques, shops, and restaurants along historic Main Street. The quaint Bear Moon Bakery and Café, perfect for pastries and coffee, is located in a historic corner building and offers indoor and outdoor seating. Black Rifle Coffee Company serves high-quality coffee imported from Columbia and Brazil! Try their casual breakfast menu when you’re on the go.
• Take your time visiting the collection of unique shops in Olde Town, then head to Cibolo Creek Brewing Co. for lunch. Their menu features seasonal farm-to-table fare including soups, sandwiches, salads, burgers, charcuterie boards, and craft beer.
• For those who like to shop with a culinary thought in mind, you will not want to miss Kiss the Cook, Boerne Epicure Gourmet Market, Fickle Pickle, and Texas Gourmet Pantry. Your taste buds will thank you later!
• Indulge your passion for fashion when you browse the interesting collections of clothes and accessories in boutiques such as Celeste, Alley on Main, Ella Blue, Daisy Pearl, The Dienger Trading Co., and Dang Sassy.
•The Cypress Grille offers both comfort and elegance for dinner. Your delicious choices include grilled pork chops, blackened sea scallops, pan-seared foie gras, fresh soups, salads, sandwiches, crispy oysters, delectable desserts, and an extensive wine list.
DAY 2: Indulge Your Artistic Side
• Local art, folk art, fine art, and more are featured in the many art galleries. However, you’ll need breakfast first, so head over to the Dienger Trading Company just north of Main Plaza, in the heart of the Hill Country Mile. This charming restaurant located in one of Boerne's cornerstone buildings features a wide bakery selection as well as hearty Hill Country plates that will fuel you for a full day of fun. Planning on a late start? Enjoy a huge Sunday brunch at Las Guitarras Cocina Mexicana with a vast variety of selections including American classics, menu favorites, an omelet station, fruit, salad, fideo, and more.
• After breakfast, cross River Road and take a morning stroll along the Cibolo Trail, hugging the Cibolo Creek, and take in Art Al Fresco, an outdoor public art walking tour.
• For lunch, Boerne Epicure and Gourmet Market offers a lovely outdoor patio in the heart of Boerne. Their homemade soups and handcrafted artisan sandwiches are to die for! Another very highly recommended lunch spot is the elegant 259 Brantley’s Bistro, where you can indulge in specialties such as quail or shrimp tacos, axis venison burger, lamb sliders, imaginative salads, and creative sandwiches.
• Visit fine art galleries in the afternoon, such as Gallery 195, Carriage House Gallery, and Texas Treasures Fine Art Gallery. Then stop in for a mid-afternoon glass of wine or craft beer at Boerne Cork and Keg or Thirty Eight and Vine before dinner.
• The Creek Restaurant is an enchanting dinner venue tucked along the Cibolo Creek near the Main Street bridge. Dine alfresco on the gorgeous deck or inside the historic landmark building.
DAY 3: Venture Out to See the Sights
• Begin with breakfast, where the locals eat—that often means breakfast tacos are on the menu. Visit Mague’s Café, Mary’s Tacos, or Taqueria Guadalajara.
• Planning on a late start to your Sunday morning? Make brunch at Peggy’s on the Green a priority! Choices include indulgences like softshell crab Benedict, sweet roll French toast, shrimp and grits, sweet potato pancakes, and an assortment of morning cocktails.
• Go underground when you enter Cascade Caverns or Cave Without A Name. Not far away, you’ll find great places for hiking, birdwatching, outdoor photography, and more: Kreutzberg Canyon Natural Area, Cibolo Nature Center, Joshua Springs Park and Preserve, James Kiehl River Bend Park, Boerne City Lake, and Guadalupe River State Park.
• Lunch might be BBQ back in Boerne, and you can’t go wrong whether you choose Fritze’s BBQ, Klein Smokehaus, or Black Board Bar B Q. If something Italian is more to your liking, visit Valeria Ristorante Italiano, Z’s Wood Fired Pizza, or Inferno’s Wood Fired Oven and Spirits!
• Your afternoon adventure may take you into the Hill Country to visit wineries and sample commendable Texas wines. Singing Waters Vineyards, Sister Creek Vineyards, Bending Branch Winery, and Saint Tryphon Farm and Vineyard are all in the Boerne and Comfort areas.
• Your dinner destination is the Richter Tavern back in Boerne. Dine indoors or relax on the covered second-story patio. Order a fabulous cocktail from one of the oldest bars in Texas. The dinner menu features everything from tuna tartar nachos to hand-tossed pizzas to Akaushi New York Strip with garlic mashed potatoes. After dinner, head downstairs to Richter Cork and Keg for wine, beer, and margarita or sake flights.
