The first area designated in the City of Boerne to serve as a “Community Park” was established about 1852 and was known as the “Common Area”, which was a much larger area than the remaining part that is now know as Main Plaza. The area was fenced and utilized by citizens to water horses, and livestock while in town.
Main Plaza is in the heart of Boerne and serves as the site of numerous festivals, concerts, car shows and celebrations. The park features a gazebo which serves as a location for weddings and concerts. The park also features a fountain, sidewalks, electricity, lighting and public restroom.
The park may be reserved by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department. Uses are primarily intended for non profit, nonsectarian organizations for a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours. Other rules and regulations may be found in the City of Boerne Parks Ordinances.
