Boerne’s Parks and Recreation Department strives to enhance and improve the quality of life of all its citizens; promote tourism; and contribute to community aesthetics. These tasks are accomplished by providing quality parks and facilities, a highly trained professional staff, special events and wholesome and constructive recreational programming.
The Department operates nine park areas and one cemetery. The parks offer playgrounds, picnic areas and pavilions, walking trails, a community pool, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, soccer fields, softball and baseball fields, Nature Park, lake, and covered basketball pavilion.
Also offered is year around recreational programming. Leagues such as adult softball, basketball, co-ed volleyball and flag football are offered on an annual basis. Additionally, youth activities such as swim lessons, swim team, Family Nights out at the Pool, Punt, Pass and Kick competition, track and field team, Summer Junior Golf program, tennis camps, tennis lessons and tournaments are annual programs.
Special events are also sponsored or co-sponsored by the Department which include concerts, movies in the park, holiday activities, fishing tournaments, and community education classes such as dog obedience, dance, Computer applications, babysitting 101 and first aid/CPR classes are among some of the more popular events that the Department coordinates.
