Walk into any one of the remaining Texas dance halls across the state and the story of Texas is embedded in the floors and walls and the community people you find there. Each one has its own unique story to tell and it does so with its history of how and why it exists where it does, the structure and design of the building, the music that is and was played there, the people who still dance along with those long passed and of course the music that seems to hang in the air like a sweet cloud. At one time Texas had over 1000 dance halls, today there remain less than 400. Texas Dance Hall Preservation Society Executive Director Deb Fleming will also share some of the programs they are currently engaged in across the state to preserve historic halls for generations to come. Please join us for this fascinating program, this evening.
