The City of Boerne and its Recreation department will offer a summer youth track and field program for boys and girls from Boerne and the surrounding area for ages 6-18 years of age that will teach the basic principles of track and field, sportsmanship and expose participants to competition through scheduled meets.
The track team will participate in 6 meets this summer, four meets will be held at Alamo Stadium in San Antonio where there will be over 1000 competitors and spectators. The regional meet will be hosted by the City of Kerrville with over 500 athletes competing. The TAAF State Meet will be held in San Antonio with over 7000 athletes and parents attending the state meet. Some athletes will qualify for the National Jr. Olympics.
Summer track through TAAF and AAU has been in existence for well over 50 years and The City of Boerne and the Recreation Department is proud to be a part of this program. The City of Boerne Recreation Department and student athlete Ryanne Dupree will organize and coordinate the 2008 track season along with parent volunteers.
