About the Program
The animal shelter is always in need of help from citizens who have time to fill during the day. The shelter staff can feed, clean, and care for the animals. But, what most of the facility residents really need is the one things the staff doesn't have enough of - time. The number of animals housed makes it nearly impossible for the staff to give each resident the time and attention needed and deserved. That's where the volunteers come in!
There are volunteer schedules to fit almost anyone's timetable - even a program set up for children as young as 12 years old to serve as a volunteer! Activities range from sitting in a kennel and cuddling a couple of pups, to taking long walks with an older dog or playing a fast game of fetch with an energetic, younger dog. There is a job waiting for all those who volunteer at the shelter.
